Here in Scotland, steps are being taken to ensure younger people are provided with every opportunity to maximise their potential...funding for this comes from the ‘Cashback for Communities' initiative. It's a simple concept where money seized from criminal activities is re-invested in creative and recreational services. "We've turned the proceeds of crime into free playing and coaching opportunities for young people. We take Street Rugby into local communities and local town centres. We're looking to benefit such communities by reducing anti-social behaviour and petty crimes, at the same time we can get more kids into sport!"
The CashBack for Communities initiative was launched in Scotland in January 2008 ...So far more than 260 youth organisations have received funding from assets seized from the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. A Portion of the £11 million poured into sports, arts and crafts has gone to the ‘At Home' project in Airdrie...Laura Dominici helps to run this facility for young people with an interest in music...
