National Spring Clean
We can all do our bit in tackling climate change and contributing to a Greener Scotland! It could be as simple as making a small change in your everyday life! Local cleanup projects are effective and fun…local litter picks can involve every member of the community, across the generations…they can be fun and an easy way to build new relationships…it’s a healthy activity…the results on the eye are immediate, plus research shows that people are less likely to add litter to a cleaner area…so volunteering can inspire a chain reaction of improvement!
In April, Keep Scotland Beautiful organised a ‘National Spring Clean’. 20,000 gave up their time to collect enough litter to line the Royal Mile 12 times over! The work most definitely goes on and Keep Scotland Beautiful can support your local cleanup project, by provided gloves, bags and other equipment to assist. Litter Picks aren’t exclusively for Green organisations…If your workplace overlooks a littered walkway, an organised cleanup could benefit morale and pride, whilst improving the surroundings. Volunteering for an environmental project in your local area is just 1 of 10 pledges for a Greener Scotland…learn more about this and the other 9 by going to www.infoscotland.com/ourfuture

It only takes seconds to throw something in the bin! Takes people like this weeks and weeks to tidy up after these thoughtless environmental vandals!Aaron
It is such a shame that in a country where we pay such high rates of Council Tax we have to rely on the kindness of the community to get out there and clean up our environment! What is worse is the fact that the mess has been left behind by inconsiderate, thoughtless and lazy individuals who just expect everyone else to clean up after them.
There are anti litter laws with fines available to the authorities to enforce but this is so low down on the political agenda they simply don't bother!
Instead of getting out there and cleaning up after others get them to clean up after themselves! If we let others get away with mindless littering we are as guilty of it as they are!
